MD Court of Appeals Upholds State Ban on Gay Marriage

In a 4-3 ruling today, the Maryland Court of Appeals upheld Maryland’s ban on same-sex marriage. The court rightly determined that this is a political matter for the legislature to decide. No matter where you come down on this issue, this is a victory for the democratic process. Personally, I do not care one bit about gay marriage there are far more pressing and serious issues that confront us in Maryland, and the nation at large. However, I do care that issues like this are not decided by judicial fiat rather they are decided through the political process in legislature where it belongs. Even though I may not care one way or the other about gay marriage, there are plenty of people who either support gay marriage or adamantly oppose to it, now it is up to them to muster the political will to fight for their cause.
